Did you know that in Soccer practice games, it’s important for kids aged 11 or above to start playing in a larger playing field? It’s okay if you feel I’ve lost my mind but you need to realize that the game of soccer now has very different demands. This is what I am referring to. The dimensions of the play ground should be roughly 100 yards long and 60 yards wide. The dimensions of the goal post should also be somewhat like 8 feet high and 24 feet wide. The soccer rules generally applicable at all levels are applicable at this level too.
Whenever three additional players i.e. a forward, a midfielder and a defender are included to form a third dimension, a change in their roles is called for. It suggests that the extra players will be employed in set plays, there’ll be a collection of system plays, and that the goalie’s role will be expanded.
In developing individual skills of the players, introduce soccer exercises that emphasize more on technical skills. Here, take account of the heading skills, long passing, and individual moves with the ball. Making long passes will now become simpler for players because of their height and their good built.
It consequently adds scores of diversity to their attacks. Therefore you must always encourage them to make the long passes without losing the possession of the ball. There are a few benefits which are given below.
1. The skill of the players to execute longer passes also helps them change fields. 2. Long passes also help the players cross the ball from wing positions thereby making the cross a shaky tool.
Another skill that needs to be emphasized more at this level of soccer practice games is heading. Players in this age group are not scared of heading. You must make them realize that if they head the ball well, they will be able to retain the ball for longer durations and hence have more opportunities to score.
The variety of single movements for creating spaces with the ball must spread out at this level. At the time of soccer drills, players should be looking to find new ways change speed, direction, and level with the ball, along with developing their own tactics.
With the players maturing to this level, they develop the tendency to practice offensive tactics and use them as and when required. Opposite is the case when they are designated as defensive players.
However, it’s necessary at this level that players realize that they have responsibilities of both offensive and defensive players. By notifying them as defenders or offenders, you are simply ironing out things for the field.
Now that you know what clicks, help your players start soccer practice games in training sessions. These will make them so skilled that they will be able to take on any team anytime.
